The Compliance Problem

A Problem You Can't Ignore

Every healthcare practice that bills Medicare or Medicaid must verify their employees aren't on federal exclusion lists. Monthly.

79,000+
Excluded individuals in OIG LEIE database
$22,427
Penalty per claim involving excluded employee
$4M+
Potential exposure per excluded employee
Monthly
Database updates — status changes constantly

Most practices either:

Don't screen at all — huge compliance risk
Screen manually — 40+ hours/month for larger practices
Only screen at hiring — misses monthly LEIE updates

Questions

Frequently Asked

Is OIG screening really required?
Yes. All Medicare Advantage plans, all State Medicaid programs, and all Medicaid MCOs require monthly screening. The OIG has stated that providers "should have known" about exclusions — ignorance is not a defense.
What databases do you check?
We screen against the OIG LEIE (federal), SAM.gov (federal contracts), and all 37 available state Medicaid exclusion databases.
What happens if you find a match?
You'll receive an immediate email alert with the match details. Most "matches" are false positives (common names). We help you verify and document your review for compliance purposes.
How is this different from a background check?
Background checks are one-time, at hiring. OIG exclusion status can change any month — someone clean at hiring could be excluded later. Monthly screening catches these changes.
